Kayak Reviews
Choosing the right inflatable boat or kayak is always a serious matter. Since there are so many models and brands out there to choose from, you need to find out which ones are true bargains for your money. Here are a couple of boat and kayak models you might want to check out:
8.10YT Yacht Tender Inflatable Boat
What good is having a yacht if you cant get to it safely? Yacht owners should always give equal attention to their choice of transportation to their yachts. Sea Eagle has a great product for that. Its 8.10 Yacht Tender has convenience, stability, comfort and durability written all over it.
For starters, it has collapsible oars and its own carry bag for quick and compact storage. It can easily fit in your trunk. When you’re ready to use it, it inflates in as little as seven minutes. At 59 lbs. it isnt unwieldy.
Its best feature is its revolutionary drop stitch floor design. This departs from the traditional slat floor design that is uncomfortable and that adds to the overall weight. The new floor design on the other hand makes a flat, rigid and stable floor possible and takes only two inches of height space. You can easily stand flat on your feet on it. Of course, the only real problem is if you are comfortable with the idea of standing on tiny threads. You’d have to try it to be convinced that it is safer, more secure and better than the slat design.
This tender is said to be so durable that not even a hammer can punch a hole in it. At $999 this is a great bargain for your money.
Sea Eagle 9.2sr 4 Man Inflatable Boat
Its a dream come true for every water sportsman to find a boat that is both sturdy and light. You’d want one that is able to weather rough activities while at the same time is convenient to use and lug around. This is what Sea Eagles SR Inflatable Boat is all about. Its the perfect boat for the amateur sportsman.
Although it is the smallest in its line, it has power packed features. One of its best features is its reinforced polyethylene floorboard. With such a feature you never have to worry about regular wear and tear. Other models simply use coated plywood which is not a very good idea because even protected plywood does not weather well when placed in water.
Aside from its floorboard, it has other great features. It has a deep vee inflatable keel that can cut smoothly through water while providing great maneuverability. Other features include rounded pontoons, large air chambers and a wide beam hull design for stability.
The only disadvantage to this sports model is its intended limitations. It can only carry a maximum of four adults. If you want greater speed from its 9.9 hp engine, you would have to settle for a single passenger to take along with you. For a mere $1,299 though, this model is already a good buy.
Sea Eagle SE 330 Inflatable Boat
The SE 330 Inflatable Boat is one model with a lot of surprises. At 26 lbs., its one of the most portable models out there. It is so portable that it can even be carried in its carry bag like a back pack. Despite its small and compact nature, it can carry two people at a maximum of 500 lbs. It can also be used both for lake leisure paddling and class III whitewater. At $299 it is a true best buy.
One of its most commendable features is its rear skegs that mimic those on surfboards. These molded skegs allow for smooth, straight and optimum tracking. This is what separates it from other models without skegs. Kayaks without this feature tend to weave too much in the water, requiring more paddling effort from you.
The kayak is also built to withstand stress and weathering. It is made of Polykrylar material that is not susceptible to the effects of sun and mildew. Its seams are also fused with enough voltage to prevent tearing.
For some users though, the kayaks features for durability may also seem like disadvantages. The kayak is a non-rigid inflatable. This means that the sides depress when touched. This in itself is not a weakness. Improper use however, such as pulling over gravel can lead to punctures. It also cant be used in freezing conditions.
