Sea Eagle 420x Inflatable Kayak
The $999 420x inflatable kayak from Sea Eagle is the largest kayak in the line. It is therefore longer and wider at 14’x3’1” than the other two inflatable models. The advantage to its larger size is that it can carry a maximum of 3 adults or a maximum of 855 lbs. That’s one passenger more than the 340x inflatable kayak.
Despite its larger dimensions, it is still highly portable at 52 lbs. You don’t need a trailer for this one and you don’t need a large garage for storage after use. In other words, this is still the kayak of choice if you want to go on a far off adventure with a friend or two.
Just like its smaller sisters, the 420x inflatable is ideal for both whitewater and flatwater conditions. It can keep its drains closed in flatwater but it can also bail out efficiently in whitewater conditions as rugged as class IV rapids. You don’t have to worry about this kayak in rough waters. Its 1000 Denier material and specially sealed seams will ensure that there will be no punctures.
There are no big disadvantages to this unit. The only possible downside might be its size. Some kayakers are able to maneuver smaller kayaks better.
Sea Eagle 14 SR Inflatable Boat
Sea Eagle 14SR Deluxe Inflatable Boat
At 14×6 the 14SR is Sea Eagles biggest inflatable boat. It is also the most heavy-duty. It can carry up to 7 adults or a maximum of 2000 lbs. and can go for about 30 mph on a 40 hp outbound motor with two passengers. At $2,249 it is considerably more expensive than other Sea Eagle inflatable units. The price is worth it though considering the extra passenger space and the boats versatility.
Just like its smaller versions, it is light and portable. It can easily fit into a carry case which eliminates the need for a trailer or transport vehicle and a storage room. You can easily transport this unit at the back of your truck or van and inflate it within minutes.
What is truly great about the 14 SR is that it does not sacrifice quality for portability. Like its smaller counterparts, it is made of sturdy 1000 Denier material that even a claw hammer can’t break. It also comes with a deep vee inflatable keel for quick, smooth and easy passage through water. Its other key features include water-resistant plastic floorboards, grab line, rounded rear pontoons, splash guards, oarlocks, rubbing strake and D-rings.
The only possible disadvantage to the 14 SR is its price. Then again, it is so much cheaper than rigid counterparts.
